Filled Jobs in Australia Rise in June Quarter

The number of filled jobs in Australia rose by 0.7% to 16.3 million in seasonally adjusted terms in the June quarter, the fifth quarterly rise in a row, according to Labor Account figures released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) on Friday.The rise was driven by a 0.4% increase in main jobs and a 4.6% increase in secondary jobs, ABS head of labor statistics Sean Crick said.Filled jobs increased by 2.6% over the year.The total number of jobs rose by 0.6% in June, consisting of a decrease of 8,800 job vacancies and an increase of 110,700 filled jobs.Meanwhile, the number of main jobs increased by 0.4% and secondary jobs increased by 4.6%.The proportion of secondary jobs to filled jobs rose to 7.1%.
