FirstEnergy Q1 Electricity Sales Climb; Segment Revenues Up

US utility FirstEnergy (FE) Tuesday reported actual sales of 38.616 gigawatt-hours of electricity in Q1, up 1.2% from 38.172 GWh in the same quarter last year.Sales in the commercial sector increased the most by 2.8% year over year to 10.118 GWh, followed by the residential segment with 0.7% rise to 15.596 GWh. Industrial sales were also up 0.5% to 12.899 GWh.The company's revenue across all segments improved, according to the report.The distribution segment posted the highest revenue contribution of $1.99 billion, versus the prior year's $1.94 billion.The integrated segment recorded $1.70 billion in revenue, compared with $1.35 billion a year earlier. The stand-alone transmission segment generated $516 million in sales, relative to the previous year's $491 million.Going forward, FirstEnergy said it is "uniquely positioned to take advantage of data center growth."It has contracted 2.205 GW of data center demand in 2026, and 4.255 GW in 2031 and 2035.On top of these, the company is eyeing to deliver 7.43 GW in 2031 demand pipeline and 14.865 GW in 2035.
