United Natural Foods (UNFI) reported fiscal third-quarter revenue below Wall Street's estimates on Tuesday as the food distributor logged double-digit declines in conventional and retail sales.Sales declined 4.2% to $7.72 billion, missing the average analyst estimate of $7.80 billion on FactSet. Adjusted earnings rose to $0.77 a share for the three months ended May 2 from $0.44 the year before, just above the $0.76 consensus view.The stock plunged 15% as trading got underway on Tuesday.Conventional and retail saw revenue declines of nearly 14% and about 10%, respectively, to $3.14 billion and $515 million. The decrease in conventional sales came as United Natural Foods closed its Allentown, Pennsylvania, distribution center.Inflation has re-accelerated in the aftermath of the US-Israel war with Iran that has disrupted shipments through the Strait of Hormuz.
