General Dynamics Raises Earnings Outlook Following Second-Quarter Beat

General Dynamics (GD) reported fiscal second-quarter results ahead of Wall Street estimates and increased its full-year earnings guidance amid strong order activity.Earnings grew to $4.24 a share in the quarter through July 5 from $3.74 a year earlier, ahead of the Street's projections for $3.96. Revenue rose 8.1% to $14.09 billion, surpassing the $13.52 billion modeled by analysts. For fiscal 2026, the aerospace and defense company raised its EPS outlook to between $16.80 and $16.90 from its prior range of $16.45 to $16.55. The company saw "the strongest first half for orders for aerospace since 2022, (reflecting) very solid demand across the entire Gulfstream product line," Chief Financial Officer Kimberly Kuryea said on an earnings call, according to a FactSet transcript.Morgan Stanley expected increasing global defense spending to serve as a tailwind for General Dynamics. "This is attributable to a slightly disadvantageous mix, plus a modest increase in both (general and administrative expenses) and (research and development)."Price: $390.43, Change: $-2.76, Percent Change: -0.70%

RTX Could See More Growth From Defense, Aerospace Demand, Morgan Stanley Says

RTX (RTX) could deliver stronger revenue, margins and free cash flow through 2027 as defense orders rise, commercial aerospace demand stays firm, Pratt & Whitney improves engine servicing and Collins cuts costs, Morgan Stanley said in a note Friday. The investment firm said RTX's record $289 billion backlog and strong demand for aircraft parts, maintenance services, missiles and air defense systems should support continued growth, with Raytheon to provide the largest earnings upside, helped by its $86 billion backlog, rising international orders and five missile defense agreements that have not yet entered the backlog.Pratt & Whitney could benefit from higher aftermarket sales as engine repair output improves, service times fall and fewer aircraft remain grounded, Morgan Stanley said, adding that Collins could also lift earnings as higher aircraft production and cost reductions help margins move toward 19% to 20% over time. The 2026 adjusted earnings estimate was raised to $7.25 per share from $6.90 and increased its 2027 and 2028 forecasts to $7.85 and $8.50 per share, respectively, according to the note.Morgan Stanley maintained the company's overweight rating and raised its price target to $240 from $220.Price: $213.83, Change: $+4.67, Percent Change: +2.23%
