New Zealand Shares Flat; Spark New Zealand Fiscal 2026 Adjusted Earnings Down, Revenue Up
New Zealand shares ended flat on Thursday while most Asian shares rose higher as markets digested US plans to ease its Treasury yields.The S&P/NZX 50 Index was little changed to close at 13,919.82.Overnight, the S&P 500, the Nasdaq Composite, and the Dow Jones gained about 0.2% each.The US Treasury announced support measures for long-duration bonds on Wednesday, seeking to stem a rise in yields that had unsettled global investors, according to a Wednesday Reuters report.The US 30-year Treasury yield was last at 4.64% while the US 10-year Treasury yield was last at 5.18%.In domestic news, New Zealand has the potential to deliver over a gigawatt (GW) of new compute capacity over the next five years, an increase from the previous 600-megawatt base scenario, which could see New Zealand capture 0.5% of global compute capacity in 2030, according to a report by Boston Consulting Group.In corporate news, Spark New Zealand (ASX:SPK, NZE:SPK) logged NZ$0.119 in adjusted earnings per share for fiscal 2026, compared with NZ$0.123 a year ago.PGG Wrightson (NZE:PGW) said Chief Financial Officer Peter Scott will step down from his role at the end of October.
