Uber Technologies' Delivery Hero Deal Could Boost Growth, Profit, UBS Says

Uber Technologies' (UBER) planned Delivery Hero purchase could expand its delivery business, deliver more than $1.2 billion in yearly savings, improve margins after closing and lift earnings, though regulatory approval remains the main risk, UBS said in a note emailed Friday.UBS said Uber has a strong chance of gaining control of Delivery Hero because Prosus plans to sell its stake and Delivery Hero's board supports the offer. The firm said the deal could increase Uber's user base by about 25% and gross bookings by about 22%, strengthening its position against DoorDash (DASH) and other delivery platforms.Uber's $1.2 billion annual savings target appears achievable and may be conservative, helped by combining platforms, removing repeated costs and selling more services to existing customers, while Delivery Hero's Talabat business, planned asset sales and further cost cuts should help Uber recover margins quickly after the deal closes, the firm said. The transaction could add to adjusted earnings per share after its expected closing in H2 2027 and raise adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization by a high-single-digit percentage by the third year, according to the note.UBS kept Uber's buy rating and $110 price target.Price: $71.77, Change: $-2.27, Percent Change: -3.07%

Domino's Quarterly Results Likely Impacted by Macro Pressures, Promotions, UBS Says

Domino's Pizza (DPZ) is expected to post soft second-quarter results due to economic headwinds and increased promotional activity across the pizza category, UBS Securities said in a note emailed Wednesday. The brokerage expects Domino's US same-store sales to fall 1.5% in the second quarter, compared with consensus expectations that UBS put at 0.3% growth. UBS forecasts the pizza restaurant operator's earnings per share at $3.91, lower than Wall Street's expectation of $4.23.Soft consumer spending and heightened promotional competition will likely offset the impact of sales initiatives, including those focused on value, and third-party contributions, UBS analyst Dennis Geiger said.Crude and gasoline prices soared in the aftermath of the Iran war, souring consumer sentiment. Energy prices have come down as the US and Iran engaged in talks and agreed to a memorandum of understanding to end their war in June.Earlier this year, Domino's Pizza reported weaker-than-expected first-quarter results as consumer uncertainty and inflation weighed on demand late in the quarter. It is scheduled to report second-quarter financials July 20.The company said last month Chief Operating Officer Joe Jordan will succeed Russell Weiner as chief executive later this year.UBS projects a 0.2% increase in US comparable sales for the full year."While near-term headwinds are likely to persist and comparisons are getting tougher into (the second half), we anticipate sequential recovery over the longer-term," Geiger added.Promotional offerings and expansion of its DoorDash (DASH) partnership will help drive a long-term recovery, UBS said. The company's valuation offers an attractive risk-reward profile backed by expected market share gains despite economic uncertainty, according to the note.UBS reiterated its buy rating on Domino's stock and kept the price target unchanged at $375.Domino's shares closed 3.4% lower on Wednesday. The stock has lost 27% so far this year.Price: $303.15, Change: $-10.00, Percent Change: -3.19%

Dollar General's Core Consumer Remains Resilient Despite Inflation Pressures, Truist Says

Dollar General's (DG) core lower- and middle-income consumers are under pressure amid sticky inflation and higher gas prices, but continue to show resilience, Truist Securities said in a Wednesday note.Dollar General's consumer base continues to be steady and manage budgets despite inflation and periods of stress, Truist analyst Scot Ciccarelli said. Continued employment is a key factor driving this strength and shopping behavior, the analyst added."Most importantly, this customer is also still employed, which is the single biggest driver to shopping behavior, even as the recent drop in gas prices (if sustained) should also help at the margin," Ciccarelli wrote.Dollar General is also benefiting from "trade-in" activity from higher- and upper-middle-income shoppers, attracted by its value and convenience proposition, the brokerage said. Third-party delivery services are further expanding its reach, helping bring in more higher-income customers."While still a small part of the base, Dollar General's highest income customers are their fastest growing cohort," the note added.Dollar General remains "very comfortable" with its competitive pricing and positioning, Truist said, noting that its prices are within about 3%-5% of mass retailers like Walmart (WMT).The brokerage maintained its Hold rating and $114 price target on Dollar General.

Research Alert: CFRA Maintains Buy Opinion On Shares Of Doordash, Inc.

CFRA, an independent research provider, has providedwith the following research alert. Analysts at CFRA have summarized their opinion as follows:We lift our price target by $2 to $240, based on 30x our 2027 EPS view, just below DASH's three-year average (~32x) given competitive threats from AI and Uber Eats, offset by the company's dominant market position and positive network effects. We raise our 2026 adjusted EPS view by $0.10 to $5.63 and 2027's by $0.06 to $7.99. We are encouraged by DASH's Q2 Marketplace GOV guidance (+36% Y/Y), an encouraging result following relatively soft guidance for Q1, especially given fears of a weakening consumer. International sales continue to scale solidly, with Deliveroo accelerating to 14% Y/Y growth in Q1 vs. 7% growth in Q4 (we expect continued improvement all year). Margin pressure remains (adjusted EBITDA margin -20 bps Y/Y to 2.4%) but should fade as platform integration activities finish up early next year. Adjusted EBITDA guidance (midpoint of $820M) was above expectations ($742M), despite the company expecting another $50M gas relief charge, which should persist amid the Strait of Hormuz closure.

DoorDash Re-Platforming On Track, Execution Intact, RBC Says

DoorDash (DASH) re-platforming investments appear to be on track so far and are not affecting execution, with Deliveroo showing acceleration across key metrics, RBC Capital Markets said in a Thursday note. The firm described Q1 as a solid, better-than-feared print, with stable GOV growth despite weather disruptions and margins holding up through the investment cycle.Along with its quarterly earnings, DoorDash's management highlighted meaningful progress on its global technology platform in Q1, with foundational infrastructure in place across payments, fraud, support, subscriptions, merchant tooling and logistics and live production traffic ramping across all three brands, RBC said. The brokerage said re-platforming remains a key investor concern but execution is tracking well so far and is not disrupting underlying business momentum.DoorDash guided Q2 marketplace gross order value between $32.40 billion and $33.40 billion, about 1.5% above Wall Street estimates at the midpoint, while its EBITDA range of $770 million to $870 million was about 1% below consensus, RBC said, adding that commentary suggesting only minor investment spilling into 2027 appears constructive.RBC kept its $270 price target, with an outperform rating.Shares of DoorDash were down more than 1% in Thursday trading.Price: $165.95, Change: $-2.03, Percent Change: -1.21%

Research Alert: Dash: Mixed Q1, But Outlook Calls For Continued Strong Momentum

CFRA, an independent research provider, has providedwith the following research alert. Analysts at CFRA have summarized their opinion as follows:DoorDash reported mixed Q1 2026 results, with revenue of $4.04B (+33% Y/Y) missing consensus expectations of $4.15B, while GAAP EPS of $0.42 beat the Street's $0.36 estimate despite a 5% Y/Y decline and $48M of restructuring charges. Marketplace GOV of $31.6B (+37%, +24% ex-Deliveroo) and adjusted EBITDA of $754M (+28%) both exceeded company guidance midpoints of $31.4B and $725M, respectively. Operational execution remained strong across key verticals, with U.S. grocery and retail segments attracting record new consumers while achieving improved unit economics and sustained GOV growth. Q2 guidance signals continued momentum with adjusted EBITDA expected at $820M (vs. Street $742M) and GOV of $32.9B (+36% Y/Y), an encouraging result after Q1's guidance fell short of expectations. We expect continued margin compression from Deliveroo integration costs and elevated platform investments, but we believe the margin headwinds are transitory as integration costs normalize and operational leverage improves.
