South Korea's Consumer Confidence Declines in August

South Korea's consumer sentiment fell in August, with the Composite Consumer Sentiment Index dropping 2.3 points to 104.5, according to data from the Bank of Korea on Tuesday.

The reading compared with the 106.8 level recorded in the previous month. A reading above 100 indicates optimism, while a reading below suggests a deteriorating outlook.

The sub-index for current living standards fell to 92 from 93 in July, while the consumer sentiment index for future conditions slipped to 97 from 98.

Meanwhile, inflation expectations for the upcoming 12 months were unchanged from the previous month at 2.7%.

India attracted nearly $65.4 billion through foreign currency non-resident, or FCNR(B), deposits under the Reserve Bank of India's special swap facility as of Aug. 21, the central bank said.That, combined with inflows through overseas foreign currency borrowings and external commercial borrowings, brought total forex inflows under the facility to $72.85 billion, according to the RBI.

The number of transport motor vehicle registrations in New Zealand in July licensed for 12 months fell to 3.8 million from 3.9 million in the same period last year, according to figures released by Stats NZ on Monday.Currently licensed transport and passenger motor vehicles across the country includes almost 2.3 million cars; 631,221 trucks; 606,013 trailers and caravans; 32,965 motorcycles; 26,557 omnibuses and service coaches; as well as 13,230 taxis.Meanwhile, the total number of commercial vehicles in July was 3,350, down compared with last year's 4,379.
