Consumer confidence in the UK declined to a three-month low in September amid rising expectations that the Bank of England would tighten its monetary policy due to volatility in energy markets.
The S&P Global UK Consumer Sentiment Index edged down to 42.7 in September from 42.9 in August, according to a survey by S&P Global released Monday.
Sentiment regarding the labor market is at its lowest level in 3.5 years as households became increasingly insecure about their jobs. Demand for unsecured borrowing also rose during the month as access to credit deteriorated further.
