Malaysia's leading index rose 0.02% month over month in June, according to the Department of Statistics Malaysia data released on Monday.
The pace of growth fell short of the Trading Economics forecast of 0.4% growth.
On an annual basis, the index increased 1.3% to 114.8 points, from 113.3 points a year earlier.
The monthly increase was driven mainly by a rise in real imports of other basic precious and other non-ferrous metals, partly offset by declines in several components, notably the number of new companies registered.
