QatarEnergy has secured 33 spot cargoes of US liquefied natural gas this year for Asian buyers, following its own force majeure declarations due to infrastructure damage and shipping disruption from the US-Iran war, Reuters reported Thursday, citing sources.The company reportedly bought the cargoes from Venture Global (VG) and other customers of the US LNG exporter. The total volume is equivalent to a third of QatarEnergy's monthly exports pre-war and valued at around $1 billion, according to Reuters calculations.The shipments to South Korea, Taiwan, Bangladesh, India, and Japan aim to show that the company seeks to remain a reliable gas supplier despite recent disruptions, sources told Reuters.
