Global Education Communities Swung to Profit in Q2

Global Education Communities (GEC.TO), a student housing developer and operator, after markets closed on Tuesday reported a swing to net income in the second quarter.The company posted a net income of C$2.67 million in the second quarter, compared to net loss of $1.27 million in the corresponding year-ago quarter.It reported total comprehensive income of $2.66 million in the second quarter, compared to total comprehensive loss of $1.29 million in the year-ago quarter.The company also reported net income from continuing operations of $428,000 in the second quarter, compared to net loss from continuing operations of $1.48 million in the year-ago quarter. Net income from discontinued operations for the quarter was reported at $2.24 million, compared to net income from discontinued operations of $205,000 in the year-ago quarter.Second-quarter total revenue was reported at $5.036 million, compared to near $5 million in the corresponding year-ago quarter."Our second quarter financial results for fiscal year 2026 were marked by the successful divestiture of the company's legacy educational assets and a steady increase in student housing revenue," said Toby Chu, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of GECC.Shares in GEC eased $0.01 to $0.32 in Canada yesterday.

Talisker Resources (TSK.TO) on Wednesday reported the development on the newly established 1045 Level along the BK Vein at the Mustang Mine where it has successfully intersected a continuous 60-meter strike length of high-grade mineralization.The company said the zone comprises a "well-defined" banded quartz vein averaging 27 grams per tonne (g/t) gold across an average width of 0.85 metres with a total of 384 visible gold occurrences across 17 of the 25 faces channeled on the structure."This result highlights the strong continuity of the mineralized structures within the Mustang Mine and further supports Talisker's geological model," said Talisker Resources in a statement. "Ongoing development continues to demonstrate the robustness and expansion potential of the BK Vein system, reinforcing confidence in the asset's ability to deliver consistent high-grade material."Talisker also reported that new development along the BK Vein on the 1060 Level at the Mustang Mine has intersected a "high-grade" ore shoot, located about 15m beyond previously developed workings. First Atlantic Nickel Closes Option Agreement with Core Critical Metals on Lucky Mike Project

Aurora Cannabis Acquires Safari Flower Company, Boosting EU GMP Capacity

Aurora Cannabis (ACB.TO) said Wednesday that it has acquired Safari Flower Company, a European certified cannabis cultivator and manufacturer in a transaction valued at $26.5 million.Aurora issued 2.42 million shares and paid the selling shareholder $15 million in cash.
