Japanese Stocks Rise On Weak US Inflation Data; Oil Falls
Japanese stocks continued momentum to end in the green on Thursday after US inflation data showed cooling price pressures, easing expectations of a Federal Reserve rate hike next month.The benchmark Nikkei 225 closed up 784.53 points, or 1.16%, at 68,308.59.Oil prices slipped on weak demand forecasts and rising US crude inventories, even as the deadlock over a possible US-Iran deal and a roadmap to open the Strait of Hormuz persisted.On the corporate side, DMG Mori (TYO:6141) plans to raise 50.24 billion yen by issuing 15 million new shares through an international offering, according to a Tokyo Stock Exchange filing on Thursday.Also, Hikari Tsushin (TYO:9435) posted a 30% year-over-year increase in attributable profit for the fiscal first quarter to 36.7 billion yen from 28.2 billion yen.
