Stryker Facing Promising Setup Next Year, Trading Upside Limited in 2026, RBC Says

Stryker (SYK) will likely see an acceleration story in 2027, with high single digit growth achievable and over 10% organic growth a possibility, amid an intact capital environment for next year as well as a stable procedure volume scenario, RBC Capital Markets said in a note emailed Thursday. The investment firm said it caught up with Stryker after "continued headwinds in the peripheral vascular space and orthopedics business" and sees "limited upside" for the rest of 2026, amid an over 19% year to date drop in the company's shares. This year has become a transition year for Stryker due to the business headwinds as well as impact from the cyberattack from earlier in 2026, the note said. However, 2027 is "shaping to be an acceleration story," the note said, adding that "further upside is predicated on clear visibility into capital orders and surgery schedules as well as healthy underlying businesses."RBC reiterated Stryker's outperform rating and $420 price target, citing the company's solid setup for 2027.Price: $280.93, Change: $-3.83, Percent Change: -1.34%

Boston Scientific Flags Guidance Miss Amid 'Material Impact' From Cybersecurity Incident; Shares Fall

Boston Scientific (BSX) flagged its inability to meet its near-term financial outlooks amid a "material impact" from a recent cybersecurity incident, sending the medical device maker's shares lower Tuesday. The incident, which the company identified Aug. 25, affected some of its information technology systems and caused a network outage that impacted its ability to manufacture, process and ship customer orders.Boston Scientific expects the incident to have a "material impact" to its third-quarter and 2026 operational results, prompting the company to flag the potential guidance miss for both periods, according to a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission Tuesday.Boston Scientific shares were down 5.6% in afternoon trade, bringing its year-to-date losses to nearly 53%.In July, the company said it anticipated third-quarter adjusted earnings of $0.80 to $0.82 a share on net sales growth of 3% to 5%. For the full year, Boston Scientific projected adjusted EPS at $3.28 to $3.32 on sales growth of 5.5% to 6.5%.The current consensus on FactSet is for non-GAAP EPS of $0.81 and sales to increase by 3.8% for the third quarter, while 2026 non-GAAP EPS is pegged at $3.30, with sales seen rising 6.3%.Boston Scientific expects to recover "some portion" of the impacted revenue as it continues to ramp its global operations, fulfill customer orders, and reduce its remaining backlogs, it said Tuesday. The company continues to make progress in restoring most of its affected systems, with major distribution centers now processing and shipping orders "at or above" normal levels, it said in the filing. Boston Scientific intends to fully restore all of its systems, but said a timeline for a full-scale recovery is uncertain.Separately, Truist Securities said the cyberattack has come at a "vulnerable time" for the company."We think there's limited downside at these levels, and continue to think that (Boston Scientific) has growth acceleration on tap by (the second half of 2027-2028) with attractive end-(markets) and a rich pipeline that are not adequately reflected in the valuation," the brokerage said in a note to clients. In July, the company cut its full-year outlook amid weaker-than-expected demand for its Watchman heart implant and competitive pressure in the US electrophysiology market.Boston Scientific plans to provide an updated operational and financial outlook, incorporating the expected impact of the incident, when it reports third-quarter results Oct. 28, it said Tuesday. The incident follows a March cyberattack on rival medical-device maker Stryker (SYK) that disrupted its order processing, manufacturing and shipping. In April, the company said the attack materially affected its first-quarter results.Price: $45.30, Change: $-2.51, Percent Change: -5.24%

Research Alert: CFRA Retains Buy Rating On Shares Of Stryker Corporation

CFRA, an independent research provider, has providedwith the following research alert. Analysts at CFRA have summarized their opinion as follows:We lower our target price to $360 from $438, 21.5x our 2027 EPS forecast, below SYK's 10-year historical average of 24.5x. We maintain our 2026 EPS forecast at $14.94 and our 2027 EPS estimate at $16.71. We think that Stryker's Q1 results were significantly impacted by the late-quarter cyber incident that caused global business disruptions, leading to a miss on both revenue and earnings estimates. Despite disruptions affecting manufacturing, shipments, and revenue recognition, management maintained the full-year 2026 guidance of 8% to 9.5% Y/Y organic sales growth and adjusted EPS in the range of $14.90 to $15.10, expecting to recover most lost sales, which we find encouraging. Key catalysts for the remainder of the year include the proposed acquisition of Amplitude Vascular Systems, which has the potential to expand Stryker's cardiovascular capabilities and the creation of a new Ortho Tech business, which could streamline innovation and customer experience, in our view.

Research Alert: Syk Q1 Miss Estimates, Announces Strategic Reorganization

CFRA, an independent research provider, has providedwith the following research alert. Analysts at CFRA have summarized their opinion as follows:Stryker delivered a challenging Q1 2026 with adjusted EPS of $2.60 missing consensus by $0.38 and declining 8.5% from Q1 2025. Net sales reached $6.0B (+2.6% Y/Y) with 2.4% organic growth but missed expectations by $330M, impacted by a cybersecurity incident. We think the March 11 cybersecurity incident materially disrupted operations across segments, contributing to margin compression of 180 bps to 21.1% and $118M in incident-related costs. Management maintained full-year 2026 guidance of 8.0%-9.5% organic growth and $14.90-$15.10 EPS despite Q1 shortfall, signaling confidence in operational recovery. We see the strategic restructuring creating the new Ortho Tech business as positive, combining orthopaedic instruments with Mako technologies to simplify customer experience. The guidance implies significant acceleration in remaining quarters, though we expect continued near-term headwinds from operational disruptions and margin pressure.
