Advanced Semiconductor Engineering, a subsidiary of ASE Technology Holding (TPE:3711), has agreed to acquire machinery worth NT$1.02 billion from Hanmi Semiconductor (KRX:042700), according to a Friday filing to the Taiwan stock exchange.The machinery will be used for production and operation, the company said.ASE's shares were down nearly 1% in recent trade in Taiwan, while shares of Hanmi fell almost 4% in Seoul trading.

South Korean Shares Close at New High on Chip Stock Gains; Kospi Crosses 9,100 Points

South Korean shares closed at a new high on Monday, with the primary index Kospi closing over 9,100 points, owing to strong gains by chipmakers. South Korean Markets Rebound Sharply as Tech Giants Lead Recovery

South Korean stocks closed sharply higher on Tuesday, marking a rebound from the previous session's 8.3% plunge, thanks to strong gains made by technology stocks.
