Swire Pacific (HKG:0019, HKG:0087) is divesting a 5.96% stake in Cathay Pacific (HKG:0293) to fund a bond repurchase, according to a Wednesday bourse filing.The Hong Kong conglomerate is selling 362.6 million Cathay Pacific shares at HK$13.20 each via placement, allowing it to raise about HK$4.79 billion.Proceeds from the sale will be used to finance Swire's planned buyback of its HK$4.69 billion zero-coupon exchangeable bonds due in 2027.Following the transaction, Swire Pacific's shareholding in Cathay Pacific will fall to about 39.15%.

Swire Pacific to Lower Exchange Price on HK$4.7 Billion Bonds After Cathay Pacific Dividend

Swire Pacific (HKG:0019, HKG:0087) expects to adjust the exchange price of its HK$4.7 billion zero-coupon exchangeable bonds due 2027 after Cathay Pacific Airways (HKG:0293) declared an interim dividend.Pursuant to the conditions of the issue in June, the price will be lowered to HK$12.93 per Cathay Pacific share from HK$13.18, according to a Wednesday filing on the Hong Kong bourse. (Updates to add HAECO's response to' email seeking comment)Hong Kong's Labour Department has launched an investigation after a worker died in a fall at an aircraft hangar operated by Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company (HAECO), a subsidiary of Swire Pacific (HKG:0019, HKG:0087), on Monday.Police received a report at 8:35 a.m. that a worker had been injured at HAECO's Chek Lap Kok facility.The Labour Department said the worker fell from the working platform of a fuselage dock while carrying out maintenance on an aircraft hull. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.The department issued a suspension notice prohibiting the use of the fuselage dock involved until the employer has taken adequate measures to eliminate the relevant safety risks.HAECO, in an emailed response to' request for comment, confirmed the fatal incident and said the company is fully cooperating with relevant authorities.Meanwhile, Swire Pacific did not immediately respond to' request for comment.

Swire Pacific (HKG:0019, HKG:0087) said its Swire Pacific Finance unit was looking to raise HK$4.70 billion via a bond offering, according to a Tuesday filing with the Hong Kong bourse.The bonds will convert into Cathay Pacific Airways (HKG:0293) shares based on an initial exchange price of HK$13.18 each. Assuming full conversion, the bonds would convert into 356.6 million Cathay Pacific shares representing 5.9% of the business.The bonds mature on June 16, 2027, and do not bear interest.Swire Pacific said it will use the proceeds for general working capital purposes.Cathay Pacific's shares slumped nearly 7% in recent trade, while Swire Pacific's class A and B shares fell more than 1%.
