Swire Pacific (HKG:0019, HKG:0087) is divesting a 5.96% stake in Cathay Pacific (HKG:0293) to fund a bond repurchase, according to a Wednesday bourse filing.
The Hong Kong conglomerate is selling 362.6 million Cathay Pacific shares at HK$13.20 each via placement, allowing it to raise about HK$4.79 billion.
Proceeds from the sale will be used to finance Swire's planned buyback of its HK$4.69 billion zero-coupon exchangeable bonds due in 2027.
Following the transaction, Swire Pacific's shareholding in Cathay Pacific will fall to about 39.15%.
