Entergy Q2 Retail Power Sales Rise, Wholesale Sales Fall

US electric utility Entergy (ETR) reported Wednesday that Q2 2026 electricity sales rose by 1.4% to 37,063 gigawatt-hours from 35,534 in Q2 2025, with wholesale sales declining sharply while retail sales increased on stronger industrial demand.Wholesale electricity sales fell 19.2% to 3,338 GWh in the quarter ended June 30, from 4,133 GWh a year earlier.Retail electricity sales rose 4.1% to 33,725 GWh from 32,401 GWh in the year-ago quarter. Industrial sales increased 9.9% to 17,164 GWh from 15,620 GWh, offsetting declines in residential and commercial demand. Residential sales fell 1.8% to 8,736 GWh from 8,899 GWh, while commercial sales slipped 0.8% to 7,208 GWh from 7,265 GWh. Sales to government customers were unchanged at 617 GWh.Entergy said weather-adjusted retail sales increased 5.7% during the quarter, driven primarily by a 9.9% increase in industrial sales volumes reflecting higher demand from data center, primary metals and chlor-alkali customers. Weather-adjusted residential sales rose 2.8%.On a year-to-date basis, the utility's retail customer count increased 1.1% to 2,637,685 from 2,608,472 a year earlier.
