Metro Mining Reports 45% Rise in May Bauxite Shipments

Metro Mining (ASX:MMI) said 604,000 wet metric tonnes (WMT) were shipped from its Bauxite Hills Mine in North Queensland in May, a 45% increase on April, with 1.1 million WMT shipped year to date, according to a Tuesday Australian bourse filing.The company said the year-to-date shipment figure is 5% below the comparable period in 2025, reflecting the absence of the Ikamba vessel during recommissioning and the impacts of Tropical Cyclone Narelle, with full transhipment capacity now restored and throughput expected to be weighted to the second half of 2026.The Skardon River shipping channel has been restored to its planned operating depth following the impacts of the cyclone, with 580,000 WMT mined in May and a record year-to-date stripping result of 615,409 bank cubic meters, the filing added.Calendar year shipment guidance for 2026 remains at 6.6 million to 7.1 million WMT, it added.

Metro Mining Secures Shareholder Approval for 20-for-1 Share Consolidation

Metro Mining (ASX:MMI) received shareholder approval for a 20-for-1 share consolidation, effective Wednesday, according to a Thursday Australian bourse filing.The company currently has 6.14 billion issued shares, and it has stated that all existing performance rights will also be consolidated at the same ratio, with every 20 performance rights being combined into one, per the filing.Post-consolidation trading is scheduled to start on May 5 on a normal basis, with settlement of on-market trades starting on May 7, the filing added.The company's shares fell around 2% in recent Thursday trade.

Metro Mining (ASX:MMI) said the total mineral resources estimate for the Bauxite Hills mine in Queensland is now 107.4 million dry tonnes as of Dec. 31, 2025, representing a decrease of 7 million tonnes from Dec. 31, 2024, due to mining activity, according to a Wednesday Australian bourse filing.The total ore reserves estimate for the mine is now 69.6 million wet tonnes, taking into account depletion due to mining and representing a decrease of 8.1 million tonnes from Dec. 31, 2024.
