Metro Mining (ASX:MMI) said 604,000 wet metric tonnes (WMT) were shipped from its Bauxite Hills Mine in North Queensland in May, a 45% increase on April, with 1.1 million WMT shipped year to date, according to a Tuesday Australian bourse filing.
The company said the year-to-date shipment figure is 5% below the comparable period in 2025, reflecting the absence of the Ikamba vessel during recommissioning and the impacts of Tropical Cyclone Narelle, with full transhipment capacity now restored and throughput expected to be weighted to the second half of 2026.
The Skardon River shipping channel has been restored to its planned operating depth following the impacts of the cyclone, with 580,000 WMT mined in May and a record year-to-date stripping result of 615,409 bank cubic meters, the filing added.
Calendar year shipment guidance for 2026 remains at 6.6 million to 7.1 million WMT, it added.
