The US dollar strengthened slightly against the Canadian currency Friday afternoon as oil prices rose following reports that Iran attacked two oil tankers as they were passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
The tankers were struck while under US military escort, according to Friday reports by The Guardian and CNBC.
The US dollar edged up 0.04% to C$1.4018.
West Texas Intermediate September futures rose 1.3% to $84.87 per barrel on last look, while US gold futures for December declined 1.4% to $4,102 per ounce.
