US weekly ethanol production dropped slightly compared with a week ago, according to the US Energy Information Administration report released Wednesday.
For the week ending Aug. 14, US ethanol production averaged 1.09 million barrels per day, down from last week's 1.12 mmb/d and up from last year's 1.07 mmb/d. The four-week average output of 1.11 mmb/d was above 1.09 mmb/d at the same time last year.
Midwest ethanol production averaged 1.03 mmb/d, compared with 1.06 mmb/d the previous week. Four-week average output was 1.05 mmb/d, compared with 1.03 mmb/d a year ago.
Domestic ethanol inventories ended the week at 25.1 million barrels, compared with 24.8 mmbbls a week ago, and 22.7 mmbbls a year ago.
