Producer input prices in the UK climbed 4.9% year over year in July, following the revised 7.4% jump earlier, data from the Office for National Statistics showed Wednesday.
Analysts expected a 6.6% rise for the month.
Meanwhile, producer output or factory gate prices gained 3.1% annually, against the 3.5% increase earlier and the expected 3.2% growth.
On a monthly basis, producer input prices dropped 1.7% in July, compared with the revised 1.9% decline previously and expectations of zero growth. Monthly factory gate prices were 0.2% higher, versus the revised 0.1% dip previously and projected 0.2% gain.
