Taiwan's trade surplus expanded by 1.2% year over year to $12.2 billion in June from nearly $12.1 billion in the same month last year, according to data from the Ministry of Finance on Thursday.
The latest figure was lower than $17.9 billion in May, and missed the consensus forecast of $19.3 billion in surplus, according to Investing.com.
Exports rose 40.3% year over year to $74.8 billion, missing the consensus forecast for a 48.6% growth.
Imports increased 51.8% to $62.6 billion. The consensus forecast was for a 47.8% rise.
