Taiwanese manufacturing activity increased 1 percentage point to 62.5% in August, the 11th straight month of increase, marking the fastest expansion since the same month in 2021, the Chung Hua Institution for Economic Research (CIER) said Tuesday.
The figure was higher than the 61.5% seen in July.
Expansion in the AI and high-performance computing sectors, as well as energy infrastructure, helped raise the island's adjusted Purchasing Managers' Index.
New orders expanded the fastest since August 2021 to 61.6%, but the manufacturing inventory index slipped 2.9 percentage points to 58.2, the third straight month of deceleration and the slowest since March.
The outlook for the next six months stayed above 60% for the eighth straight month, edging up 0.7 percentage points to 65.2%.
