Consumer confidence in the UK weakened in August as households became increasingly insecure about their jobs amid a renewed decline in income.
The S&P Global UK Consumer Sentiment Index stood at 42.9, down from a four-month high of 43.4 in July, according to a survey by S&P Global released Monday.
Sentiment regarding the labor market marked its lowest level since March 2023. Demand for additional borrowing also increased as falling income prompted a renewed appetite for credit.
