Royal Road Minerals (RYR.V) started diamond drilling at Guintar, the most advanced target within its Guintar-Aleman-Margaritas (GAM) gold-copper-silver project in Colombia, it said Monday.
The company is drilling from Platform 20, where multiple holes are planned to progressively follow the interpreted mineralized system down plunge and beneath the limits of previous drilling, it said. The new holes will test down-dip extensions of mineralization encountered in drilled holes GUI-DD-013 and GUI-DD-028.
The evolving geological model at Guintar forms part of a broader cluster of porphyry-related targets across GAM, Royal Road said. Recent underground sampling at Algodona returned 36 meters at 2.14 grams per tonne (g/t) gold and 6.95 g/t silver, while reprocessing of historical geophysics at Niverengo defined a previously untested coincident chargeability and magnetic target, it added.
"Our objective at Guintar is to advance the known system toward a maiden mineral resource while continuing to demonstrate the broader discovery potential of GAM," chief executive Tim Coughlin said. "Beyond GAM, we are advancing exploration across our Northern Block and, importantly, working toward renewed access to our gold and copper portfolio in southern Colombia, which we believe is of exceptional quality."
The company's shares last traded Sept. 10, closing at CA$0.19 on the TSX Venture Exchange.
