Redbook US same-store sales rose by 8.3% from a year earlier in the week ended July 25 after a 7.8% year-over-year increase in the previous week.
Redbook noted that retailers have been clearing summer stock to bring in back-to-school items.
"Some have seen slow sales and less interest from shoppers, which is typical for mid-July," Redbook said, adding that back-to-school sales are likely to lift all sectors by mid-August.
Through the third selling week for July, sales were up 8.1% compared with July 2025, below the target for an 8.6% gain, Redbook said.
