PharmaTher Holdings (PHRM.CN) launched Personaliz3D Peptides, a new division to develop and commercialize personalized peptide products using 3D printing and artificial intelligence technologies, the company said on Monday.
Potential formats for the peptides may include gummies, oral films, tablets, chews, and patches, a statement said.
While interest in peptides is increasing, patients can be restricted by limited dosage options, inconvenient administration methods and quality concerns, PharmaTher said. It added that a 3D printing system, and AI could provide a solution by allowing qualified providers to produce peptide formulations based on specific patient requirements.
"We intend to simplify a fragmented process and build a platform through which patients can be assessed by a physician, prescribed an appropriate personalized solution and connected with a qualified pharmacy capable of preparing the prescribed product," said Chief Executive Fabio Chianelli.
Peptides are short-chain amino acids and are the building blocks of proteins.
PharmaTher shares were last seen up C$0.005, to $0.06, on the Canadian Securities Exchange.
