Update: Safety Insurance Agrees to $1.54 Billion Acquisition by Mapfre; Shares Surge

Safety Insurance (SAFT) shares were up 41.6% in Friday trading after the company said late Thursday it entered an agreement to be acquired by an affiliate of Mapfre in a $1.54 billion all-cash deal.

Safety stockholders will receive $105 for each share of the company they own, it said.

The deal is expected to be completed in Q1 2027, subject to closing conditions and regulatory approvals, the company said.
