Over two-thirds of Japanese companies support Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's economic agenda, particularly her growth strategy focused on AI and semiconductor investment, according to a Reuters survey.
The poll, conducted by Nikkei Research for Reuters from Aug. 26 to Sept. 4, covered 510 companies, of which 224 responded anonymously.
While 70% of backers favor her proactive investment push, 49% also approve of inflation-fighting energy subsidies, the poll showed.
Among critics, 68% oppose her temporary sales tax cut on food, the publication said.
Regarding her tenure, 46% want her to stay beyond her term ending September 2027, versus 18% who do not, Reuters said.
