Polish refiner Orlen does not expect an immediate supply impact from the Saudi pipeline shutdown despite issuing crude-buying tenders, according to media reports on Monday.
Shipping data showed a sharp drop in Saudi crude cargoes scheduled to move from Egypt's Sidi Kerir terminal to Poland this month. However, the company reported no immediate supply disruption, according to a Reuters report Monday, citing the company's press office.
The company said refinery feedstock supplies remain uninterrupted. It also pointed to its regular efforts to broaden sourcing options and grow its upstream operations, according to Reuters.
Vessels carrying US, Algerian and Norwegian crude are heading to Gdansk, supplying Orlen refineries in the city and its largest plant in Plock, the report added, citing MarineTraffic data.
However, Orlen issued at least five crude-buying tenders over the past two days, signaling efforts to secure replacement barrels after the Saudi East-West pipeline shutdown, according to a Bloomberg report on Monday.
Traders reportedly said the tenders indicate Orlen is seeking alternative crude supplies following the Saudi pipeline disruption caused by attacks last week.
Orlen did not immediately reply to' request for comment.
