India's state-run ONGC and global energy major BP (BP) signed a technical services contract on Thursday to boost crude oil and natural gas production across 43 blocks in the country's Western Offshore Basin, ONGC said.
Under the contract, ONGC will retain 100% ownership and operational control, while BP will deploy advanced technology and global technical expertise to moderate natural production declines across 43 offshore blocks.
The commercial terms structure a fixed fee for BP during the first two years, transitioning subsequently to a performance-linked service fee tied directly to a percentage share of revenue from net incremental production, as per the statement.
The Western Offshore Basin is critical to India's energy infrastructure, feeding into ONGC's broader output which accounts for roughly 64% of the country's domestic crude oil and natural gas production.
The agreement, signed in the presence of India's Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, marks a major expansion of the corporate alliance following their initial technical partnership for the Mumbai High field established in February 2025.
