Growth Energy, the nation's largest biofuel trade association, on Wednesday expressed support for the Trump administration's request that Congress include year-round E15 gasoline legislation in its supplemental funding package.
The call for Congress to authorize permanent year-round availability of the E15 blend is part of a $87.6 billion supplemental funding request by the Office of Management and Budget.
"Congress should not miss this opportunity to deliver a permanent fix for E15, giving consumers greater access to a lower-cost fuel option and more savings at the pump," Growth Energy CEO Emily Skor said.
The Renewable Fuels Association, in a press release, reiterated that President Trump "has called on Congress multiple times to pass legislation that would simply allow consumers to choose lower-cost E15 year-round."
Meanwhile, the Senate Agriculture Committee on Tuesday unveiled its long-awaited farm bill draft, which does not include the E15 year-round measure, according to DTN.
Lawmakers said that E15 will need to find another path in the Senate and warned that it would not be included in the chairman's bill.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., has also told the Senate Agriculture Committee that he wants to consider E15 during the summer work period before the August recess.
