The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development raised its 2026 economic growth forecast for the UK but expects growth to slow in the next year amid continued uncertainty about the evolution of the Middle East conflict.
In its latest Economic Outlook report published Wednesday, the OECD said it now expects the UK's gross domestic product to grow 1.1% in 2026, up by 0.2 percentage points from its June forecast, as the government's newly announced support measures are anticipated to boost consumption. For 2027, the projected GDP growth was trimmed by 0.1 percentage point to 1%.
The country's headline inflation rate, on the other hand, is anticipated to reach 3.1% in 2026 before easing to 2.6% in 2027, respectively down 0.6 percentage points and up 0.2 percentage points from previous estimates.
