The US National Weather Service on Tuesday said the Rockies, Northern Plains, and the region stretching from the Great Lakes into the Mid-Atlantic continue to experience significant heat wave. with intensity expected to peak through midweek.

Meanwhile, portions of southwestern Texas may face risks related to life-threatening and locally catastrophic flash and urban flooding through early Friday due to excessive rains.
The NWS issued an extreme heat early Wednesday for Minnesota's Brainerd, Hinckley, St. Cloud, Willmar, Mankato, Red Wing, Minneapolis, Morris, and Marshall. The state is primarily served by Otter Tail (OTTR) unit Otter Tail Power, Allette (ALE) subsidiary Minnesota Power, Xcel Energy (XEL), and Alliant Energy (LNT).
A similar warning was raised for Wisconsin's Hayward, Park Falls, Rice Lake, and Eau Claire, where Xcel Energy is the major service provider
An extreme heat warning was also issued for Wilmington in Delaware, served by Exelon (EXC) unit Delmarva Power; Philadelphia in Pennsylvania, served by Exelon's Peco Energy; and Trenton and Newark in New Jersey, served by First Energy (FE) subsidiary Jersey Central Power & Light and Public Service Enterprise Group (PEG) unit Public Service Electric and Gas Company.
Parts of Yuma and Parker in Arizona, majorly served by Pinnacle West Capital (PNW) unit Arizona Public Service Company, were also placed under a similar warning.
Affected areas in Montana include Sidney, Circle, Glendive, Terry, Miles City, and Broadus. Northwestern Energy (NWE) and MDU Resources (MDU) unit Montana-Dakota Utilities are among the primary service providers in these places.
In California, an extreme heat warning was raised for Blythe, El Centro Imperium, Campo, El Cajon, Mount Laguna, Julian Borrego Springs, Indio, Escondido, San Clemente, Hemet, Beaumont, Santa Ana, San Bernardino, Anaheim, Chino, Ontario, Wrightwood, Burbank, Big Bear Lake, Los Angeles, Mount Laguna, Riverside, Santa Clarita, Malibu, Palmdale, Santa Barbara, Long Beach, and Oxnard. A red flag warning was issued for parts of Santa Barbara, along with Willow Creek, Weaverville, and areas near Garberville, Crescent City and Mount Shasta.
PacifiCorp's Pacific Power, PG&E (PCG) subsidiary Pacific Gas and Electric, Edison International's (EIX) Southern California Edison, and Sempra Energy (SRE) unit San Diego Gas & Electric are the major electricity service providers in these places.
The NWS issued a red flag warning for Nebraska's Harrison, Chadron, Alliance, Scottsbluff, Bridgeport, Harrisburg, Kimball, and Sidney. A major part of the state is covered under the service area of regional transmission organization Southwest Power Pool, with Midcontinent ISO also serving some areas.
A similar warning was raised for Wyoming's Baggs, Bill, Glenrock, Lance Creek, Douglas, Rusk, Glendo, Shirley Basin, Medicine Bow, Elk Mountain, Garrett, Wheatland, Torrington, Chug Water, Pine Bluffs, and Cheyenne. The state primarily falls under the service area of Rocky Mountain Power.
In Texas, the NWS issued a flash flood warning for Uvalde and Hondo, while a flood warning was raised for Langtry, Junction, San Antonio, Pearsall, Carrizo Springs, and areas near Victoria. These places are primarily served by American Electric Power's (AEP) Texas unit.
The NWS also issued flood warnings for small pockets of Illinois and Louisiana.
