The New Zealand Light Traffic index rose 1.3% in July, remaining broadly in line with its level a year earlier, according to data from ANZ Research released Tuesday.
According to the ANZ Truckometer index, light traffic, including motorbikes, cars, and vans, has declined noticeably in recent months, likely reflecting reduced driving in response to higher fuel prices, although it tentatively began to recover in July.
The more volatile Heavy Traffic Index, tracking mostly trucks and some buses, eased 0.2% in July but remained up 1.6% year over year, the report said.
