The annual growth rate of house prices in the UK increased to 2.2% in June from 1.7% earlier, according to data from the Nationwide Building Society published Wednesday.
The consensus estimate for the month was a 2.4% jump in housing prices.
The average price of houses was 277,484 pounds sterling, down from 278,024 pounds a month ago.
On a monthly basis, seasonally adjusted house prices were stable, against the 0.6% decline earlier and the expected 0.1% uptick.
