TDK (TYO:6762) is considering investing 40 billion yen over the next three years to expand production output of electronic component thin-film inductors, used in power-delivery systems in AI servers, Nikkei Asia reported Monday.
Under the expansion plan, the Tokyo-listed electronics company will spend 35 billion yen at a plant in Yamanashi prefecture and 5 billion yen at a facility in Yamagata prefecture, the report said.
The Yamanashi plant will produce thin-film inductors for AI chips, while the Yamagata site will make components for optical transceivers used for data transmission, with production expected in the fiscal year ending March 2027.
TDK did not immediately respond to a request for comment from.
