Market Chatter: Capital One Pressed by Democratic Senator for Details on Trump Account Anti-Money Laundering Review

By

Capital One Financial (COF) was pressed by Democratic Senator Maggie Hassan for details about an internal anti-money laundering review that the bank said last month had led to the closure of accounts tied to President Donald Trump and his businesses, Reuters reported Wednesday, citing a letter sent by the senator to Capital One CEO Richard Fairbank Tuesday.

The senator asked for documents detailing the transactions, alerts and other factors that led to the review, as well as any communications with law enforcement or regulators related to the matter.

If Capital One complies with the request, it could shed further light on the financial dealings of the president's companies, as well as whether Trump's "debanking" allegations have merit, according to the report.

Capital One and the White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment from.
