Japan's Cabinet adopted an order to extend anti-dumping duties on dipotassium carbonate imported from South Korea for an additional five years, according to a joint statement from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Ministry of Finance on Friday.
The extension will keep the current anti-dumping tariff rate of 30.8% in place until July 7, 2031.
The decision follows a review launched in August 2025 after a request from domestic chemical manufacturer AGC Inc. (TYO:5201).
Japanese authorities ruled that removing the duties would likely lead to "a recurrence of dumping and injury to the domestic industry caused by the dumped imports."
Japan originally implemented the 30.8% anti-dumping duties on South Korean dipotassium carbonate on June 24, 2021.
Dipotassium carbonate is an ingredient used to manufacture soap, glass, and wine, among others. Unid Co. (KRX:014830) is among the listed suppliers of this compound in Korea.
