Japan Extends Anti-dumping Duties on South Korean Dipotassium Carbonate for Five Years
Japan's Cabinet adopted an order to extend anti-dumping duties on dipotassium carbonate imported from South Korea for an additional five years, according to a joint statement from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Ministry of Finance on Friday. The extension will keep the current anti-dumping tariff rate of 30.8% in place until July 7, 2031.The decision follows a review launched in August 2025 after a request from domestic chemical manufacturer AGC Inc. (TYO:5201).Japanese authorities ruled that removing the duties would likely lead to "a recurrence of dumping and injury to the domestic industry caused by the dumped imports."Japan originally implemented the 30.8% anti-dumping duties on South Korean dipotassium carbonate on June 24, 2021.Dipotassium carbonate is an ingredient used to manufacture soap, glass, and wine, among others. Unid Co. (KRX:014830) is among the listed suppliers of this compound in Korea.
