International Securities Transactions Generate Net Inflow of C$5.4 Billion in Canadian Economy in June

International investors purchased C$40.8 billion of Canadian securities in June, led by federal government debt and private-sector corporate bonds, while Canadian investors bought C$35.4 billion of international securities, mainly US equities and corporate bonds, said Statistics Canada on Monday.

As a result, international securities transactions generated a net C$5.4 billion inflow into Canada, according to the country's statistical agency in a statement.

International investors also returned to Canadian equities, buying C$901 million after divesting C$16.1 billion in May, added StatsCan.

Canadian investors added C$23.5 billion of US equities and C$5.3 billion of international bonds, partly offset by a C$9.9 billion reduction in US federal government bonds.

China Galaxy Securities (SHA:601881, HKG:6881) redeemed the principal and interest of its 4 billion yuan bond issuance, according to a Saturday disclosure to the Shanghai bourse.The bonds had a term of 248 days and an interest rate of 1.74%, paying out a total of about 4.05 billion yuan in both principal and interest.

Jiangxi Copper's Two Bond Tranches Accrue Interest; Shanghai Shares Rise 4%

Jiangxi Copper's (SHA:600362, HKG:0358) two tranches of medium-term bonds totaling 1.5 billion yuan accrued interest on Friday, according to a Saturday disclosure to the Shanghai bourse.The first tranche has a total amount of 500 million yuan with a 10-year term and an interest rate of 2.14%, while the second tranche is a 15-year bond worth 1 billion yuan and an interest rate of 2.35%.Both issuances form part of a 7 billion-yuan bond program.Industrial Bank (SHA:601166) is the lead underwriter and bookrunner, while China Merchants Bank (SHA:600036, HKG:3968) is the joint lead underwriter.Shares rose 4% in Shanghai and 3% in Hong Kong during morning trading on Monday.
