HPQ Silicon (HPQ.V) said Wednesday it received an initial commercial order for its 6,000 milliampere-hours (mAh) battery packs incorporating lithium-ion cells.
The battery packs utilize HPQ's partner Novacium's silicon-based anode technology.
LN Innov, the client, and also Novacium's partner, will integrate the GEN3 packs into certain drones for a French Army regiment. The order is the first commercial use of Novacium's silicon-based anode technology in an application intended for the French defense sector.
"This first order in the defence sector is tangible proof that our strategy is working," said HPQ Chief Executive Bernard Tourillon. "This represents an important commercial validation and a concrete step forward in our efforts to create value for our shareholders," he added.
HPQ Silicon shares were last seen up C$0.005, to C$0.145, on the TSX Venture Exchange.
