Gold Reserve (GRZ.V) plans to start a normal-course issuer bid, it said after markets closed Thursday.
The company expects the NCIB to allow it to buy back and cancel up to around 7.39-million shares, 5% of its issued and outstanding shares,.
The buyback will begin on Sept. 4 and run for 12 months.
The company's shares closed up CA$0.01 to CA$6.66 Thursday on the TSX Venture Exchange.
