Geiger Energy's Director James Sykes Resigns

Geiger Energy (BEEP.V) said James Sykes resigned as a director of the company.

Sykes founded Baselode Energy Corp., the predecessor of Geiger Energy, said the company on Friday.

"James founded what was then known as Baselode, today Geiger, and helped build the foundation the Company stands on," said Chairman Stephen Stewart.

The company's shares were last seen up CA$0.01, or 5%, at CA$0.21 on the TSX Venture Exchange.

AGF Management (AGF-B.TO) Thursday after trade said total assets under management (AUM) and fee-earning assets jumped 31% year over year to CA$74.2 billion as at Aug. 31.This was 1.2% lower than the CA$75.1 billion that was reported on July 31, the company said.AGF shares closed up CA$0.90 at CA$21.61 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

Definity Financial Estimates a CA$130 Million Hit From July-August Catastrophe Losses

Definity Financial (DFY.TO) said Thursday it expects catastrophe losses in July and August to reduce underwriting income by about CA$130 million net of reinsurance recoveries.It equals CA$0.79 per share after taxes and reinsurance, the company said.The losses are due to severe rainstorms and flooding in Ontario and Alberta in July, as well as flooding in Ontario and wildfires in British Columbia in August.Definity said its third-quarter catastrophe losses so far are "trending meaningfully" above the full-quarter market consensus estimate of CA$93 million. The company plans to provide a finalized update for the quarter in the first half of October.The company's shares closed down CA$1.29 to CA$73.65 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
