A fire broke out at Monroe Energy's Trainer, Pennsylvania, refinery on Thursday before emergency responders brought the blaze under control, the company said in a statement.
The fire at the facility is under control, a Monroe Energy spokesperson toldvia email.
The 185,000 b/d refinery caught fire at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday after a blaze erupted in a process unit pump room. Emergency crews extinguished the fire, and the injured employee was transported offsite for medical treatment.
Monroe immediately began air monitoring in the surrounding community after the fire started, working with the Delaware County Local Emergency Planning Committee, according to the statement.
Although smoke was visible, air monitoring detected no risks to human health, Monroe said.
The company added that it continues coordinating with local emergency response officials and has completed all required agency notifications.
Monroe said it has not yet determined the cause of the fire and will conduct a full investigation into the incident.
