Exelon's ComEd Gets Approval for Kishwaukee Transmission Project

Exelon (EXC) unit ComEd said Monday that the Illinois Commerce Commission has approved its plan to build a new transmission line in DeKalb County to enhance grid reliability, meet rising energy demand and support economic growth.

The ICC issued ComEd a certificate of public convenience and necessity for the Kishwaukee Area Reliability Extension project, comprising a double-circuit 345-kilovolt overhead transmission line extending about 6 miles on existing right-of-way, as well as a new 345 kV and 138 kV substation, according to the company.
