European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Edge Up in Wednesday Trading

European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were edging higher late Wednesday morning, up 0.2% to 1,940.47 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical company DBV Technologies (DBVT) and semiconductor firm Sequans Communications (SQNS), which rose 3.6% and 3.3% respectively. They were followed by argenx (ARGX) and Novo Nordisk (NVO), which rose 3.2% and 2.8% respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by internet ad firm Criteo (CRTO) and biopharmaceutical company Cellectis (CLLS), which dropped 18% and 1.8% respectively. They were followed by telecommunications company Nokia (NOK) and biopharmaceutical company Grifols (GRFS), which were down 1.5% and 1.3% respectively.

The gainers from the UK were led by pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca (AZN) and communications company WPP (WPP), which increased 4.6% and 3.4% respectively. They were followed by educational publisher Pearson (PSO) and hospitality company Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG), which were up 2.5% and 2.1% respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by Biodexa Pharmaceuticals (BDRX) and insurance company Prudential (PUK), which fell 8.1% and 4.7% respectively. They were followed by Akari Therapeutics (AKTX) and lender HSBC (HSBC), which lost 3.6% and 3.2% respectively.
