Energy Fuels (EFR.TO) said terbium oxide produced at its White Mesa Mill in Utah passed qualifications of a Japanese rare earth permanent magnet manufacturer.
The milestone advances Energy Fuels' efforts to commercially produce heavy and light rare earth oxides for permanent magnets, the company said Wednesday.
Terbium is a heavy rare earth element that is scarce in the West. It serves as an additive to improve the performance of high-strength rare earth permanent magnets, Energy Fuels said.
Energy Fuels noted that it previously announced the qualification of its neodymium-praseodymium and dysprosium oxides for rare earth permanent magnets.
