EDF Power Solutions North American will sell power from a 400-megawatt solar project coupled to a 400 MW/1,600 MWh battery storage asset to NV Energy after the companies entered into a 25-year power purchase agreement, EDF announced on Tuesday.
The solar and storage project, known as the Winston Energy project, is sited on private land in Lyon County, Nevada, and will deliver power starting in Oct. 2029, according to EDF's statement.
The project is expected to deliver 1.1 million MWh of power annually, displacing fossil-fuel generation whose emissions would equate to those of 187,000 passenger vehicles over the same period.
France's EDF power solutions, present in North America since 1987, has a portfolio of 26 gigawatts of wind, solar and storage projects across the continent.
